The Deadwood line from Drew Estate has always played by its own rules, introducing cigar fans to the rowdy, untamed side of premium tobacco. But with Deadwood Dominicana cigar, a new “sister” joins the fold—and she’s nothing like the others. Where the original Deadwood girls flaunt their aromatic punch, the Deadwood Dominicana cigar is more poised, more refined, and more mysterious… though no less enticing. She’s got that same rebellious heart, but this time it beats with island rhythm; rooted in the lush valleys of the Dominican Republic.
Deadwood Dominicana marks a first for Drew Estate, being the inaugural Deadwood cigar crafted around Dominican tobaccos and rolled at La Gran Fabrica in Estelí. The blend is centered on Dominican Criollo ’98 filler tobacco from La Canela, grown in collaboration with José Mendez & Co. To keep things balanced, a Mexican San Andrés binder adds depth, while the Connecticut Shade wrapper gives the cigar a smooth and silky exterior. While the sweet cap nods to Deadwood’s signature style, the focus here is clearly on the tobacco, not the flavoring.
What does the Deadwood Dominicana cigar taste like?
Smooth on the surface and quietly complex underneath, the Deadwood Dominicana cigar walks the line between mellow and nuanced. You’ll pick up notes of hay, salted butter, and honey on a warm biscuit, with hints of almond and soft earth rounding things out. Smooth and lingering, the finish wraps things up with the kind of finesse that keeps you coming back for another go. This is still Deadwood, but it’s Deadwood with a passport and a little lipstick on the collar.
