Originally crafted by Rolando Reyes Sr. out of the Reyes family's factory in Honduras, the Cuba Aliados brand rose to prominence in the cigar world during the great cigar boom of the 1990s. In 2021, the brand (along with a few others from the Reyes' portfolio) was purchased by J. Cortes Cigars, parent company of Oliva Cigars.
Bringing Cuba Aliados back to its former glory, two versions were launched for the brand's debut in 2022: Cuba Aliados by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and Cuba Aliados Original Blend. The former was a limited project, being rolled by E.P. Carrillo in the DR. The latter is intended to be the updated core line, being rolled by JRE Tobacco and the Eiroa family at their facilities in Honduras.
What does the Cuba Aliados Original Blend cigar taste like?
While the cigar stays true to its Honduran roots, the Cuba Aliados Original Blend differs in... its actual blend. Using a Honduran puro recipe, the intention was to recreate the Cuban profile that Reyes rolled during the early years of his career in Cuba. As such, Cuba Aliados Original Blend cigars boast a medium intensity and notes of sweet earth, lightly zesty cabinet spice, fresh-baked rye, and a nice creaminess through the finish.
